Machine Learning and Rendering
TimeThursday, 16 August 20182pm - 5:15pm
LocationEast Building, Ballroom BC, Vancouver Convention Centre
DescriptionMachine
learning recently enabled dramatic improvements in both real-time and
offline rendering. We review the principles and their relations to
rendering. Besides fundamentals like the identity of reinforcement
learning and the rendering equation, we cover efficient solutions to
light transport simulation, participating media, noise removal, and
future directions of research.
Level Advanced
Prerequisites
The presentations are mostly self contained and will assume only a
basic understanding of the principles of image synthesis by
rasterization, ray tracing, and light transport simulation.
Intended Audience
Although advanced, this course will embrace a wide audience, including
technical directors, artists, their producers and managers, as well as
researchers.
