Saliency in VR: How Do People Explore Virtual Environments?
TimeSunday, 12 August 20182:40pm - 3pm
LocationWest Building, Room 118-120, Vancouver Convention Centre
DescriptionUnderstanding how people explore immersive virtual environments is crucial for many applications. To further our understanding of viewing behavior and saliency in VR, we capture and analyze gaze data of users exploring stereoscopic, static omni-directional panoramas. We explore applications such as panorama thumbnails, panorama video synopsis, and saliency-based compression.
