Be Part of the Vancouver Experience.

The SIGGRAPH Student Volunteer Program provides integral operational support to SIGGRAPH. We’re building a team of the best students from across the world: passionate, hard-working students ready to create incredible memories.

In exchange for ~25 hours of service, Student Volunteers receive a full conference registration which provides access to the latest conference content, networking opportunities and exclusive SV-only perks.

This experience is open to students age 18+ (on or before 10 August 2018) who are enrolled full time for at least one semester in high school, undergraduate, or graduate school during the 2017-2018 academic year. Financial aid is available to qualified applicants.

Student Volunteers are talented and diverse – but most importantly, dedicated to supporting the conference, the SIGGRAPH community, and one another. Apply to the SIGGRAPH Student Volunteer Program and celebrate the best of computer graphics with us in Vancouver!

How to Submit

All SIGGRAPH Student Volunteers must earn their position through our application process. The SV Application can be found at sv.siggraph.org.

To be considered, applicants are required to complete the entire SV application, which asks for enrollment information, contact information, and several essay responses. Applicants are encouraged to put generous time, effort, and consideration into their applications.

Out of fairness to all applicants, late or incomplete applications are not considered. There are no exceptions to this rule.

The Student Volunteer Application closes on 13 February 2018 at 22:00 UTC/GMT. The Team Leaders Application closes on 16 January 2018 at 22:00 UTC/GMT.

Evaluation

After the 16 January 2018 Team Leader Application deadline, all Team Leader applicants are considered by the Student Volunteer Subcommittee. Team Leader selection notifications will be sent in early February.

After the 13 February 2018 Student Volunteer Application deadline, all SV Program applicants are evaluated through a blind jurying process that lasts from February to April. SV Applications are judged on quality, clarity, proper completion, and thoughtfulness. We’re looking for candidates who can clearly communicate, support, and demonstrate leadership skills, passion for service, enthusiasm, and the unique value they bring to our team.

All SV applicants with completed applications will be notified of decisions by 30 April 2018.

Upon Acceptance

All applicants who submit a completed SV application will be notified via email by 30 April 2018. Financial Assistance notifications will also be sent out at this time.

Accepted applicants will be required to complete an online confirmation form to secure their position as a Student Volunteer. The deadline for confirming your position as an SV will be early May. Accepted SV applicants who fail to confirm their position before the deadline will be considered declined.

Once confirmed, all SVs will begin receiving communications from the SIGGRAPH Student Volunteer Program regarding pre-conference training procedures, onboarding materials, and avenues to connect with fellow volunteers before we arrive onsite in Vancouver!

Timeline

Team Leader applications are due 16 January 2018 at 22:00 UTC GMT. Student Volunteer applications are due 13 February 2018.

Team Leader selections will be announced in early February. Student Volunteer acceptances and rejections will be sent by 30 April 2018. Financial Assistance notifications will also be sent at this time.

Accepted Student Volunteers will be required to confirm their position in early May. SV Onboarding will take place periodically via email from May to August 2018.

All TLs will be required to arrive in Vancouver by 9 August for TL Training on 10 August 2018.
All SVs will be required to arrive in Vancouver no later than noon on 11 August 2018 for SV Check-In and Orientation.

SIGGRAPH 2018 will take place from 12 – 16 August 2018 at the Vancouver Convention Centre in Vancouver, Canada.
